Well I don’t know if theres any one thing necessarily that inspired that tune, its more so just what came out of that particular session. I definitely need to go back in on it and change a few things. The name though came about because i layered in some parts out of an old Hunter S Thompson interview. I have a hard time coming up with creative names for tunes, haha. As far as party favours go they just aren’t really my thing. I understand that they are a part of the scene and I don’t have any major problems with it as long as people are responsible. Its just not something that Im personally into though.

I would say that my studio is a fairly typical setup. Its a Mac running Ableton Live, some vsts, studio monitors, a few hardware synths etc… The Subpac is awesome! I actually trust it more than my studio sub in a lot of ways. Anyone who has a chance to try one definitely should. For the most part I’m making music for myself and my friends to play in DJ sets. I have a couple things released but I’m pretty bad for not really getting stuff out there. I keep most stuff pretty close. There are some forthcoming things that I’m excited about but I have to stay pretty quiet on that for now.

Well I have spent over half of my life playing and collecting vinyl so that format is pretty deeply ingrained in me. I still buy vinyl regularly and do play it out, but I use Serato as well, for me its the best of both worlds. Serato is still pretty much like playing vinyl but it allows me to play my own tunes as well as stuff thats not out on vinyl. I would love to cut dub plates but it just doesn’t seem like the best option for me right now. I could go on forever about how I feel about the new age of digital djing and how much I miss the days of record stores but this probably isn’t the place for it, haha.

I’ve actually recently developed this fascination with how the internet affects people in their everyday and personal lives. As I learn more about it its giving me a lot of mixed feelings on it. Its invaluable to me though because of where I live [on Lasqueti Island], its somewhat remote so the internet is by far the easiest way for me to stay in contact with people, its also how I stay up to date with whats going on, but at the same time its so easy to waste way too much time on there.

I’m not sure how to put into words how i feel the sound would be portrayed visually but I feel like we are very fortunate in BC to have a lot of very talented visual artists who are amazing at doing exactly that. I have a couple friends in particular that do visuals at some of the festivals around here who are also really into the the same sound. Needless to say I love working with them! It definitely creates a more immersive experience when you have visuals to match the music being played.

First off I have to give so much respect to Daega Sound, they are close friends of mine and some of my favourite producers. Really exciting things coming from them. I have to mention the rest of Lighta crew as well. They paved the way for this sound in BC and are still always coming with something new and exciting.Internationally theres so much amazing music coming out all the time but what comes to mind when you say refreshing would be people like Commodo, Proxima, Gantz (as well as the rest of the Innamind crew), etc…. I feel artists like them are really pushing boundaries and coming up with a very refreshing take on the sound. Some people may disagree but I feel the roots of dubstep are really making a strong come back. Dubstep has taken a few strange turns along the way but people really seem to miss that deeper original sound.
